Day 63 of the multilingual flashcard challenge and amazed I managed to make it this long without doing potatoes. Being Irish, these are a staple in my diet, in any of their forms.
My favourites are roast potatoes, potato farls (potato bread) and crisps – om nom nom!
Despite many diets advising people to cut back on carbohydrates, leading many to avoid potatoes, they have lots of health benefits.
Potatoes are a source of lots of vitamins and minerals including vitamin B6, potassium, copper, vitamin C, manganese, phosphorus, niacin, dietary fiber, and pantothenic acid.
They are low in calories and high in fibre, as well as being a source of antioxidants such as flavonoids. Some research seems to show that they can help in lowering blood pressure too. No excuses not to include some potatoes in your next meal now!
