In Greek mythology, Krokus was a youth who was turned into a flower after a failed love affair. These flowers are some of the first to emerge in the Spring and are found in Europe, North Africa, Middle East, Central Asia and West China.

Are there any growing near you?

They grow from gorms (not bulbs) and appear in white, yellow and purple varieties.
