Library Loot: Middle Grade Madness
I went a bit mad at the library today – whoops! Still, I am off for the summer holidays so I am hoping to surround myself with great books and have lots of enjoyable reads! Here are a few that I picked up today and am really looking forward to reading.
Have you borrowed anything great from your library recently?
Fire Girl, Forest Boy by Chloe Daykin
Maya has to escape. She’s on the run in a country she doesn’t know and has no idea who to trust.
Raul is escaping too – travelling back to his home where a terrible tragedy happened, ready to stir up trouble.
When their paths collide in the middle of the jungle, the sparks begin to fly. As modern world corruption meets the magic and legends of ancient times, can Maya draw on her hidden light to find the way through to the truth?
A book about light, about magic and belief, and about unlocking your own potential, from the critically acclaimed author of Fish Boy.
Peril en Pointe by Helen Lipscombe
Milly yearns to dance like her ballerina mum – but during the biggest performance of her life, she messes up and her mum disappears. Six months on, Milly receives an unexpected invitation to join Swan House, a prestigious ballet school. But this is no ordinary ballet school: it’s a school for spies …
Through the Mirror Door by Sarah Baker
Since the accident, Angela has been alone. When she is invited on holiday with her cousins, it is her chance to be part of a family again if she promises to behave herself. But secrets lie in the walls of the crumbling French holiday home and the forbidden rooms draw Angela in. Soon night-time footsteps, flickering candlelight and shadows in windows lead her to a boy who needs her help. To save him Angela must discover the truth about what happened in the house all those years ago . . . and face the terrible secret of her own past.
The Dragon in the Library by Louie Stowell and Davide Ortu
Kit can’t STAND reading.
She’d MUCH rather be outside, playing games and getting muddy, than stuck inside with a book. But when she’s dragged along to the library one day by her two best friends, she makes an incredible discovery – and soon it’s up to Kit and her friends to save the library… and the world.
Storm Hound by Claire Fayers
Storm of Odin is the youngest stormhound of the Wild Hunt that haunts lightning-filled skies. He has longed for the time when he will be able to join his brothers and sisters but on his very first hunt he finds he can’t keep up and falls to earth, landing on the A40 just outside Abergavenny.
Enter twelve-year-old Jessica Price, who finds and adopts a cute puppy from an animal rescue centre. And suddenly, a number of strange people seem very interested in her and her new pet, Storm. People who seem to know a lot about magic . . .
In Claire Fayers’ electrifying adventure Storm Hounds, Jessica starts to see that there’s something different about her beloved dog and will need to work out which of her new friends she can trust.

If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.

Peril en Pointe and Storm Hound are both great! I’ve always fancied trying Sarah Baker but just not got to her yet, and I plan to read the Dragon in the Library too. I got the Princess who Flew with Dragons and The Monser Who Wasn’t from my library today!

I am definitely enjoying getting caught up on reading and am actually attempting to get caught up on blogging too – have been really absent this month! When do you start university? x

The official start date is 16th September! I’ve spent quite a lot of this month trying to get stuff sorted, which has been stressful at points! X

Good luck! It can be stressful but I am sure that it will all be worth it when you get to study what you love! x
