Happy Birthday to me!

Happy Birthday to me!

Hope that everyone is having a great week!

I know that I should probably have given up being excited by my birthday by now, especially as it is pretty much always freezing and grey, but I believe in trying to find joy in the little things so I’m going to celebrate anyway.

In the last year there have been some pretty big changes in my life, including buying a house and moving in as well as learning how to D.I.Y. lots of jobs around said house. I’ve been lucky enough to spend time with family and friends, as well as meet bloggers and authors at a variety of events. We’ve travelled to visit family in Ireland and Austria. I have pushed myself out of my comfort zone in meeting new people and learning new skills…with lots more learning still to go.

My birthday almost always falls in a busy time at school (e.g. mock exams, preparation for parent-teacher evening, etc) so I don’t usually do anything too outrageous, but I am looking forward to going out for a nice meal, walk or to the cinema this weekend. Our Book Fair books will also be arriving in school, which is almost like a birthday present for me as the excitement of opening a box of books never grows old!

Here are a few of my favourite blog posts from the last year:

5 things I’ve learnt from a year of blogging

5 ways blogging makes you better

How to make adorable D.I.Y. Peg Doll Animals

Books About Refugees

6 ways to practise self-care which don’t involve a face mask

And a few reviews that I’m pretty proud of:

Invisible Women

Herstory

Perfectly Preventable Deaths

Nocturna

Rebel Dogs

Welcome to Our World

No Ballet Shoes in Syria

The Gilded Wolves

If you could check out one or two of these posts it would really make my day!

Wishing everyone a happy Tuesday!

  3. love wishing people happy birthday in their language – google translation! Happy birthday. You are right wherever can experience some joy, should; therefore should not stop celebrating birthdays. I have only ever worked once on my birthday as can request it as holiday. I have always requested as holiday on principle even one year when in middle of a deadline working 6 day weeks. My ideal birthday would be waking up with someone love. Spending time with them and or other people love. Preferably on holiday somewhere; also have Nov birthday so, limits locations in world that are warm enough!  Then lovely meal in evening.

I have a rule of not working on my birthday, except this one time I was at a college where you couldn’t take time off during term time.
