And then there were three…new adventures in 2020!

Happy New Year everyone and I hope that 2020 is treating you well already.

As I mentioned yesterday, in my post about the highs and lows of 2019, there is one more piece of exciting news that I would like to share with the world.

As soon as I saw you, I knew an adventure was going to happen

2020 is the year that we will become parents!

Our baby is due in February (next month!) and I am super-excited to welcome this new addition to our little family.

Needless to say, I am already accumulating a pile of baby books!

And so, the adventure begins…

new adventure

This time last year I was ill, and had to face the prospect that we might not be able to have children. This was a pretty tough thing to come to terms with because I had always assumed that I would have the choice.

So much of our education around pregnancy focuses on not getting pregnant, but I have since discovered that so many people around me have been through years of heartbreak because so many things can go wrong. Yet, despite how common it is, it is not something that is easy to talk about.

I spent the first three months of my pregnancy trying not to get my hopes up, because of the awareness that things might not work out, despite being sick constantly.

I cried my eyes out at our 12-week ultrasound because there was an actual baby there. Immediately, it seemed like nothing else mattered.

At 16 weeks I felt the first kicks, and couldn’t help myself falling instantly in love.

At 20 weeks, scans showed no abnormalities and we could, at last, tell some of the people around us. At 21 weeks, I eventually stopped vomiting (yay!).

Since then, baby has been turning tumbles inside me and I am already completely besotted. I can’t wait to meet our new family member.

It has not been an easy journey, but I am so excited about this new adventure.

Welcome to the world, little Jellybean!

  2. Beautiful Jellybean.
There’s a pile of books waiting in my wardrobe too. She’s going to have a library before she’s ready to grab books for herself. xx

    1. Good luck, hope it happens for you too. We are absolutely over the moon, especially with having to confront the possibility that it might not happen or, even if it did happen, the pregnancy might not progress properly. Parts if it has been tough and I am terrified of the delivery, but really cannot wait to meet our baby!

I’m over the moon for you!! I had a feeling!
I know what you mean about the silence and the worry, my younger daughter is a little miracle for being here let alone a walking, talking bright button but I was devastatingly lonely going through that pregnancy when it seems anything but being glowing & happy is taboo! I’m so pleased you are on the final weeks and am looking forward to hearing of your little ones adventures into books too!! 💜

    1. Thank you so much – we’re incredibly happy! We didn’t even tell our parents until after the 12-week scan, just in case, as we had been warned that it probably wouldn’t be a viable pregnancy…so seeing an actual little person on the screen was magical. I wouldn’t say I’m glowing (more uncomfortable and breathless, lol), but I am definitely happy…and finally feel like I can let loose with buying all the books and cute baby stuff, etc! So glad to hear that Tinyfae beat the odds and I can only imagine how lonely and scary it must have been for you, x

    1. Thank you! There have been highs and lows, but we’re now at the stage where everything is looking healthy so we can finally relax and start accumulating cute stuff (including, of course, lots of books!) for baby. Not long to go now…
