Six for Sunday: Bookish Resolutions

Six for Sunday: Bookish Resolutions

Today’s theme for #SixforSunday is Bookish Resolutions so here are a few of mine:

  1. Review every single book I read, even if it’s just a few sentences. I will not write ‘RTC/ Review-to-come’ because, realistically, I rarely go back to it.
  2.  Keep my Goodreads up-to-date as I am awful for leaving it for ages and then struggling to update it – especially when it comes to writing monthly or yearly round ups (see all the books I read in 2019 here).
  3.  Join in Year of the Asian Readathon again this year and make an active effort to read diversely, especially books by #ownvoices authors.
  4.  Read more of my own books as I have lots of unread books on my shelves
  5.  Make time for reading everyday – last year I tried to read while eating breakfast and avoid going online until after work, so I will try to keep that going.
  6.  Make an effort to pass books on after I’ve read them, unless they are books I absolutely adore and plan to reread. This will be a tough one but I have already run out of shelf space and have yet to find space where I can squeeze more in…

    1. Yes, that’s true. I was really good for a while at copying my reviews onto Toppsta, Amazon, etc, but need to be better this year!

I’m aiming to keep on top of reviews better too though I’m not holding out much hope!
I’d struggle with your last one, I’m such a hoarder! Though I am getting better at passing some books on… Good luck!

    1. I am a total hoarder, which became really really obvious when we moved house and books began appearing from various hiding places around our flat. I have now completely walled one side of our living room in 5 billy bookcases and been banned from getting anymore, lol. There are probably about another two bookcases of books stacked around the place so I am trying really hard to read and pass books on to friends, libraries, school or charity shops! My plan for 2020 is to read 1 ARC, 1 library book, 1 book from my shelves and then I can buy another one, lol. Although, since we have a baby on the way in February, I feel completely justified in buying board books, etc! Good luck with keeping on top of reviews and passing on books!

That is a great plan – good luck with it! And yes to buying loads of board books etc!
We’ve already had to clear and box up Peapod’s main bookcase once as we ran out of space!

    1. You can never have too many books! Just need more bookcases…and a magically-expanding library…

  4. I’m a complete book hoarder too! I have pretty much run out of storage space. I’m going to have to start being more ruthless 😰

    1. My partner keeps on talking about a ‘one in – one out’ rule but that’s just completely unrealistic, lol. I’m trying my best to read one ARC, one library book and one from my own shelves before buying a new one. Then passing on children’s books to the school library and adult books on to friends or charity shops. There are so many that I can’t bear to let go of though…
